About Artistic Giving Jo
Artistic Giving Jo is a dream nurtured over half a century, blossoming from a lifelong passion for crafting into a vibrant space for creativity, community, and a vision for the future. For over 50 years, our founder has immersed herself in the world of making, constantly seeking new skills and connecting with fellow enthusiasts to share knowledge and inspiration.
This journey of learning and connection has led to the formation of cherished bonds within the crafting world. Groups like the BFFs of Plainfield Jewelry have provided a space for like-minded individuals to come together and exchange ideas. Similarly, Thimble's Quilt Shop in Lockport became a significant hub for growth and friendship. It was there that three remarkable individuals, Carol Rangel, Anne Luring, and Susan Hopkins, entered the founder's life, forming a deep and enduring friendship. Together, these four kindred spirits affectionately call themselves the "Mother Puckers" (ask us about the name sometime!).
At the heart of Artistic Giving Jo is JoJo, a special needs daughter who inspires this family endeavor. Currently working part-time at Lockport Animal Hospital and Once Upon a Child, JoJo brings her own unique spark and dedication. Recognizing the uncertainties of the future, her brother, Andrew, envisioned a way to combine the family's entrepreneurial spirit with a passion for crafting, creating a supportive and engaging environment for JoJo and realizing a long-held dream.
The creation of this website serves a dual purpose: to raise funds that will allow our founder to continue pursuing new crafting endeavors in retirement and to share her beautiful, one-of-a-kind creations with you. It's a way to sustain a lifelong passion while offering unique artistic pieces to those who appreciate handmade artistry.
Looking ahead, Artistic Giving Jo will evolve into a welcoming crafting retreat location in Woodridge, Illinois. This space will be more than just a storage area; it will be a hub for creative exploration, where individuals can gather for workshops, classes, and open studio time, fostering a sense of community and shared passion.
Artistic Giving Jo is built on the foundation of family, friendship, the belief in the power of creativity, and a vision for a fulfilling future. We are excited to share this journey with you, offering unique handcrafted items now and welcoming you to our creative space in Woodridge in the future.
